[edit] Paul Languedoc

Paul Languedoc running the sound for Page's band, Vida Blue, in 2002

Phish's sound engineer since October 15, 1986, when he first ran their soundboards. He has been around them ever since, primarily as the architect of their live sound but furthermore as the person in charge of building Trey and Mike's custom guitars. He was a self-taught guitar maker who honed his skills working for Time Guitars in Burlington, Vermont. Trey had brought in his own guitar for repair and became friends with Paul. While Paul was looking for an apartment, he was actually living with Trey, who was so impressed by Paul's work that he asked him to make a custom guitar. Paul just made a sketch of a guitar that he was going to build, and the rest, as they say, is history (which means you wikipaugians have to fill in the blanks).

[edit] Pauls' current work

Paul is still building custom guitars and is now selling them to the public for the first time. They are going for about $10,000, and they are virtually of identical construction quality as those he has built for Trey and Mike over the years. He continued to use many European hardwoods such as Maple and Koa. His talent for intricate inlay work is not as evident on these newer guitars as it had been on Trey's guitars over the years.
